Republic Day commemorates the adoption of India's Constitution and the country's transition to a republic on January 26, 1950, when it became a sovereign nation free from British rule. To commemorate this occasion, NSS, BIT MESRA organized Pravad 2.0, a debate competition, on 26th January 2022. Participants were presented with an opportunity to verbalize their thoughts in persuasive and engaging ways on the matters of national concerns and emerging significance. The competition was held as a live event conducted on Google meet with the first round being held from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. and the second round being held from 3:15 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. For the first round, participants were divided into subgroups as per the total number of candidates and a total of 5 different topics were given to them to choose from. Those who qualified from Round 1 were divided into two groups (For and Against the Motion) and a Google doc was circulated wherein a topic was given and participants had to select their stance which solely depended on a first come first serve basis. When a team completed their speech on the topic, the other team was presented with an opportunity to question them. The event was really enthralling and captivating and kept the participants and audience engaged throughout its course. This event, meticulously planned out by the executives proved out to be a huge overall success with over 125 people in attendance. All the participants performed exceptionally well and presented their point of views and thoughts in a well-organized manner, learning and sharing new information along the way. Overall, the event succeeded in instilling emotions of patriotism and responsibility and fostering compassion and a sense of duty towards the country amongst the students.
